About our projects and reef-protection efforts                                                                      

During our Expedtion to the Maldives 2007 we were able to observe different levels of coral recovery. In one of our projects we use our network to monitor anual mass-spawning events at the Maldives.  We propose to investgate the feasability and application of  larvae culturing after mass-spawning events to enhance coral recovery processes locally. 

Resorts and the dive-industry carry the responsibility for adjancent coral reefs. The tourism industry of the Maldives is asked to protect their geological and financial foundation. We address issues of coral reef protection to create awaremess in working with the public and stakeholders, at the Maldives, Austria and Germany. We promote simple measures to protect the unique ecosystems intact. 

Our projects are carried out with partners on-site and in cooperation with the Universities of Vienna and Bochum. Coral Experts evaluate proposed projects to consider possible negative effects to the environment and their efficiency.
